Annual Ingress with TEAMcard

The Goodwood Estate partnered with TEAMcard in 2015 with the ambition of delivering a robust and flexible venue access solution that could handle the unique mix of event types happening across the estate annually. Since then, both teams have worked together to craft a system that delivers reliable and safe access management whilst giving Goodwood the freedom to continue to evolve the way they deliver their events.

The challenge

The 11,000-acre Goodwood Estate required a venue access control solution that could handle high levels of public access across a unique and vast area using only handheld PDAs and portable access control infrastructure.

The goal was to ensure the solution had devices which could automatically switch between reading barcodes, smartcards and paper ticket media to accommodate for the various different ticket types provided by Goodwood to their visitors.

Additionally, the access management system needed to provide real-time reports to all departments on the state of ingress and egress to assist with event management, safety and security on site.

The solution

TEAMcard worked in partnership with the team at Goodwood to first fully understand the unique complexities of their event operations. The teams collaborated to ensure the delivery of an access control system that was flexible enough to work with the packed calendar of different event types across the Goodwood estate whilst still delivering accurate and reliable entry data to all departments.

Scanners

In order to effectively service the various venues across the Goodwood Estate, TEAMcard implemented a group of connected portable scanning units that can be manually assigned to custom venues and functions. Scanners can be moved from the racecourse or racetrack event to custom event areas in a few clicks or set up to automatically adjust at custom time intervals.

The flexibility to re-assign scanners to different venues dependent on demand meant that Goodwood required a smaller number of total scanning units, saving costs whilst ensuring all on-site venues had adequate access control resource whenever required.

Live Dashboards & Reporting

TEAMcard’s delivery of live data dashboards allows the entire Goodwood team to monitor venue access data in real-time.

The custom dashboard builder functionality allows each team from each venue across the estate to choose from more than 30 widgets to craft custom data views that display only the data they care about. The Goodwood team build new data dashboards for each event, importing custom venue maps and plotting unique entrance points to deliver a live view of all entrances and exits, as well as attendance, flow rate, throughout, reader statuses and more.

Support

Throughout the partnership, Goodwood have been supported by TEAMcard’s experienced Client Services team. Delivering live on-site support for major events alongside ongoing remote support, training and development as part of a true partnership between the two businesses.

The results

Today, the TEAMcard access module to manage venue access control for all of its public events, including flagship events such as the Goodwoof, Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Festival of Speed which attracts more than 200,000 people annually.

In addition to the major annual events held on the estate, TEAMcard Access is also used to manage access control for regularly scheduled events at Goodwood’s various venues including the Goodwood Racecourse, host of Glorious Goodwood which attracts more than 100,000 racegoers each year.
